Happy Women’s History Month!
As March unfolds, we joyously embrace Women’s History Month—a time to honor the remarkable achievements, resilience, and contributions of women throughout our personal lives and history.
During this reflection, it is also important to connect and think about your own personal mental health journey as a woman. According to Psychiatric Today “Women of color are half as likely to receive mental health support as other women.” So this month we want to support our fellow women of color on their mental health journey.
Here are a few tips to help you check in with your mental health and get the support you need this Women’s History Month.
Journaling: Write in your journal or notebook for 5 minutes daily or weekly. Reflect on your mood, your day, or maybe even your goals.
Reiki or Energy Healing Sessions: This can help release blocked energy, promote relaxation, and enhance overall well-being. Schedule a session today with our favorite energy healing practitioner Katrina!
Movement/Physical movement: Incorporate regular physical activity into the routine. Exercise has proven benefits for mental health, including stress reduction and mood improvement.
Therapy or Counseling: If needed, consider seeking professional therapy or counseling to explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, gain coping strategies, and work towards personal growth. Therapy provides a safe and supportive space for self-reflection and personal growth.
Add Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques to your daily routine: Practice mindfulness meditation, deep breathing exercises, or progressive muscle relaxation to manage stress, and anxiety, and enhance overall emotional well-being.
Digital Detox: Take breaks from screens and social media. Limiting exposure to digital devices can contribute to improved mental health and reduce feelings of overwhelm.
Spa or Pampering Time: Treat yourself to a spa day out at the spa or at home, whether it’s a relaxing bath, a face mask, massage, or pampering yourself with your favorite skincare routine.
Connect with Supportive Relationships: Cultivate and nurture relationships with friends and family who provide support, understanding, and positive energy. Social connections are crucial for mental well-being.
Establish Healthy Boundaries: Work on setting and maintaining healthy boundaries in personal and professional relationships. Establishing clear boundaries can contribute to improved mental well-being.
Self-Compassion Practices: Cultivate self-compassion by treating oneself with kindness and understanding. Developing a positive and nurturing inner dialogue can improve self-esteem and reduce self-criticism.
As we always say here at Manifesting M.E. Wellness, healing is a journey. As we celebrate Women’s History Month, let’s honor the women of our communities and lineages by caring for ourselves and our mental health. Know that you are not alone on the journey and there are many ways to receive the mental health support you need.
